Devil’s Double Next Level" Review: A Flat Attempt in a Fading Franchise

Saw ‘Devil’s Double Next Level’… And Man, It Was a Bit of a Letdown

Alright, so Santhanam's back with another one in that "Devil" movie series – this one's called "Devil’s Double Next Level." You know how those movies try to be a bit scary and a bit funny? Well, this new one? It kind of fumbles both, to be honest. If you were hoping for a laugh riot or some good scares, you might leave the cinema feeling a bit… meh.

The Jokes Didn't Really Land, and the Scares Weren't Scary

That's the main problem, really. These "Devil" flicks are supposed to give you a bit of horror and then Santhanam comes in to crack you up. It’s a decent idea when it works.

But with "Devil’s Double Next Level," it felt like:

  • The Funny Bits Were Few and Far Between: Look, I like Santhanam. He can be really funny, and he’s got that unique style. But in this movie, a lot of his jokes just didn’t hit the mark for me. I was waiting for those classic Santhanam punchlines, and mostly, they just kind of fizzled out. There were a couple of moments where I maybe cracked a smile, but proper belly laughs? Not so much. It felt like he was trying, but the lines just weren't there.

  • The "Horror" Part Was Pretty Tame: If you're going to call your movie something with "Devil" in it, you kind of expect a few good jumps or at least some creepy moments, right? This one was just… not scary. At all. It was like they were doing a paint-by-numbers horror movie – throw in a ghost here, a dark room there – but there was no real suspense or anything that made me feel genuinely uneasy.

Another One in a Wobbly Series

Let's be real, this "Devil" series has always been a bit of a rollercoaster. Some have been better than others. But "Devil’s Double Next Level" just feels like one of the weaker ones. It’s like they had a recipe – "Santhanam, ghost, a few people running around scared" – but they forgot to add the flavor.

The story itself felt a bit flimsy, and honestly, I wasn't really rooting for any of the characters or particularly bothered about what happened to them. When you don't care, it's hard to laugh when they're joking or feel worried when they're supposed to be in danger.

Santhanam Did His Thing, But It Wasn't Enough

You can see Santhanam trying his best. He's got charisma, and he knows how to deliver a line. But even the best actor can't make magic out of a weak script or if the overall movie just isn't clicking. He was there, doing what he does, but it couldn't lift the whole film.

So, Is It Worth Your Time and Money?

Look, if you're a massive Santhanam fan and you absolutely have to see everything he's in, then who am I to stop you? Or if you're a completionist for this "Devil" series, well, then you'll probably watch it.

But if you're just looking for a good laugh, or a movie that'll actually make you jump, "Devil’s Double Next Level" probably isn't the one. It’s pretty forgettable, and that's a shame. It really feels like they missed a trick here – the title promised "next level," but it ended up feeling more like a bit of a step back. You might be better off just watching an older, funnier Santhanam movie instead.
